Highlighting Innovation in Breast Cancer on International Women's Day
International Women’s Day is undeniably connected to our core values at Koning. As we celebrate today, we proudly continue to further our mission of giving women’s health the attention it deserves.
Breast cancer affects millions of women and their families every year. The American Cancer Society estimates that about 287,850 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed this year, and approximately 43,000 women with a breast cancer diagnosis will die.
If a woman wants to prevent breast cancer in the first place, she has very few options. She can get an annual mammogram which can be painful and, at worst, less accurate for patients with dense breasts. Other common imaging alternatives such as ultrasounds, CT-scans, and MRIs have various drawbacks relating to cost and detection. In light of a concerning genetic history, removal of the breasts is the most drastic last resort. Koning wants to expand these options so that breast cancer prevention does not have to rely on compromise.
Our Koning Vera Breast CT -device upgrades the annual screening experience by:
- Producing real 3D images of the breast.
- Being specifically designed for breast imaging, therefore detecting the smallest tumors.
- Providing exceptional spatial resolution.
- Allowing for guided biopsy.
- Eliminating compression.
- Scanning quickly in only 7 seconds.
- Having low radiation levels comparable to mammography.
- Ensuring a low implant rupture risk.
